Pink dolphins have long beaks with 24-34 teeth on each side of their jaws and can grow to be 8 feet long and 215 pounds.Their favorite foods include turtles, crabs, catfish, crustaceans, piranhas, and other fish that hide in the roots and branches of the vast flooded forest.
The pink dolphin’s color appears in adults and can be so bright that it almost appears magenta. Juveniles and elder adults are not brightly colored. This unique color makes them stand out in the sun, resembling a sparkling ruby.
There are many rumors and legends about this dolphin because of its distinctive appearance, such as an ancient Amazon legend that these river dolphins can shape-shift into human-like males visit then the villages at night to impregnate the women before dawn returning to the water.
